Throughout the 1830s, David Haviland was a partner in D.G. & D. Haviland Trading Co, a store in NY, NY that imported French & English tableware. In 1841, David and his family set sail for Limoges, France in search of a place to start his own china factory. By 1865, Haviland & Co was well on its way to becoming a legend in the industry. The Clinton pattern, circa 1961, is a fine example of the later made Haviland porcelain that was produced in the US after 1942. This pattern is unique in that the outer portion has an ivory background, while the center portion is white. The outer border is nicely decorated with a turquoise blue floral motif and the outer edge is trimmed in brilliant gold.

Set includes: 8 footed cup & saucers, 8 dinner plates, 8 salad plates, 8 bread & butter plates, 1 creamer, 1 sugar, 1 oval vegetable bowl (9 5/8"), 1 oval platter (14 1/8")
